Optimization of the gantry of the proton therapy system IBA Proteus One:
Abstract¶
This report studies the Python implementation of the Robust Simplex Algorithm described in the paper\Robust simplex algorithm for online optimization" applied to the optimization of a proton therapy gantry. The efficiency and the behaviour of the algorithm are studied using a statistical approach in order to evaluate its ability to provide a good configuration of the gantry in the real world which is very demanding in terms of precision. The main results obtained are the fact that the algorithm does find solutions, the behaviour of the different relevant quantities of the problem and the tendency of the algorithm to find local minima.
